Solid-bottom trays offer full support and protection for small or sensitive cables, such as data and instrumentation lines, where electromagnetic interference and dust ingress need to be minimized.

Cable trays are typically produced in modular lengths, enabling flexible configuration and quick installation. A complete system includes straight sections, bends, tees, reducers, and vertical risers, allowing the tray to follow complex routes through buildings, plants, and tunnels. Side walls and covers can be added where additional mechanical protection or environmental shielding is required. Fittings and accessories such as splices, supports, clamps, and drop-out plates ensure structural continuity and proper cable management at transitions and branching points.

Installation of a standard cable tray system follows engineering standards and electrical codes. Trays are supported from ceilings, walls, floors, or structural steel using brackets, hangers, or support frames. Proper spacing of supports is essential to maintain load capacity and limit deflection. During cable laying, minimum bending radii and fill ratios are respected to protect cable integrity and to maintain adequate ventilation. Segregation between power and data cables can be achieved by using separate trays or internal dividers.

Using a standard cable tray system offers several advantages. It reduces installation time compared to conduit, facilitates visual inspection, and makes modifications and cable additions much easier.
